SELANGOR reigned supreme in the Boys’ Under-15 and Under-18 categories in the on-going National Schools (MSSM) Bowling Championships at the Daiman Bowl in Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru.
Selangor swept to a 1-2 finish in the Boys Under-15 with Muhammad Nur Hazarizq Zainal Abidin striking gold with 1,298 pinfalls. Teammate Tun Ameerul Luqman Al Hakim Tun Hasnul (1,271) settled for the silver while the bronze went to Sarawak’s Alistair Ting Lik Yung with a 1,213 total.
The Boys’ Under-18 gold also went Selangor’s way with Cheah Yung Ren on top with 1,293 pinfalls. Kuala Lumpur’s Ahmad Aidil Abdul Halim with 1,271 and Penang’s Muhammad Rafiq Ismail (1,199) settled for the silver and bronze respectively.
However, it was disappointment for Selangor in the Girls’ Under- 15 and Under-18 as the gold eluded them in both categories.
Kuala Lumpur’s Siti Nurzulaika Ismail broke Selangor hearts with a late show as she kept her cool to land the Girls’ Under-15 gold with 1,225 pinfalls. Selangor could only manage the silver and the bronze through Nur Syazwani Sahar (1,217) and Ayra Nur Jehan Aminuddin (1,171).
Selangor played second fiddle again in the Under-18 category as Pahang’s Faten Najihah Ahmad Faik swept to the gold with 1,250 pinfalls. Selangor settled for the silver with a 1,231 total from Qistina Zainal Fitri. Penang took the bronze through Nur Amirah Auni Azman (1,199).
