image001Oakley, one of the world’s most coveted brands in performance technology and style, continued to enhance its visibility in the region with its sponsorship of this week’s CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters.

Oakley is also the Official Eyewear and Footwear Sponsor of the Asian Tour and with its involvement in the US$750,000 Asian Tour event, the prestigious sports brand is poised to further establish its brand in Indonesia, which along with Korea, Philippines and Thailand are key markets for Oakley.

Andrew McMahon, Retail Manager, Oakley South East Asia, said: “We saw the Asian Tour as a great platform for us to promote our brand as our partnership with the Tour is a good way to breach into our markets fairly quickly.

The Asian Tour goes into many of the markets that we go into and the partnership is strategic for us as it gives us a shoe in the door, providing us with the opportunity to promote both our footwear and eyewear which is what we are really known for.”

With Oakley’s huge presence being felt at the exhibition booth, fairways and publicity materials around the Royale Jakarta Golf Club, McMahon is confident the brand’s association with the Asian Tour will continue to grow in the region.

“It has been great this week. We’ve a huge presence here. We’re taking this as our first opportunity. This is the first stop on the Asian Tour that we’ve really been at in a big way and we are already looking forward to other events that we’ll have a massive involvement with,” said McMahon.

Oakley manufactures and distributes sport performance sunglasses, prescription lenses and frames, goggles, apparel, footwear and accessories.

As Oakley continues to put itself at the forefront of its industry, the brand’s golfing ambassadors including Asian Tour Player of the Decade (2004-2013), Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand and Major winner Bubba Watson of the United States are also doing their part in putting Oakley in the spotlight with their stellar performances worldwide.

“We got a really strong story with golf, especially now with Bubba winning his second Masters and others including Thongchai Jaidee having a good traction in the marketplace. They are all great ambassadors for our brand and they are a great fit. Thongchai is absolutely Oakley to the core and he presents the exact image that we want,” said McMahon.

Thongchai holds an unprecedented three Asian Tour Order of Merit titles and 13 victories and recently led Team Asia to an epic draw with Team Europe at the EurAsia Cup in Malaysia last month.
