Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah made the first session of Free Practice in Silverstone as his training ground for the upcoming Hertz British GP today.
Although sitting at a mere 27th in 2’11.796s, the Moto2 rider walked out confidently knowing that he could possibly shed a few more seconds off the chart.
“The chilly weather in the morning slowed me down a little so i decided to take a notch down and learn more about the track,” said Hafizh.
“It’s quite a long stretch down the track with a number of risky turns so I need to come well prepared with a good strategy with the team if we want to pull off a good outcome,” he added.
Team manager, Barry Leong shared the same thoughts, knowing for a fact that Hafizh has never raced here before. “I hope he’ll make full use of this practice session and improved more,” he stated.
Johan Zarco became the fastest rider of the day making his fastest lap in 2’09.312s.
HAFIZH GUNA SESI PERTAMA UNTUK FAHAM LITAR
Pelumba Moto2 negara, Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah memanfaatkan sesi latihan bebas pertama bagi menyesuaikan diri dengan Litar Silverstone pada saingan hari pertama Grand Prix Hertz British, hari ini.
Meskipun pelumba PETRONAS Raceline Malaysia itu sekadar menduduki tangga ke-27 setelah mencatat masa terbaik 2’11.796s, Hafizh tetap tenang dan yakin mampu mencatat masa yang lebih baik.
“Cuaca begitu sejuk pada sebelah pagi, jadi saya mengambil keputusan untuk lebih bertenang dan mengambil masa untuk memahami tentang keadaan litar,” jelas Hafizh.
“Litar ini agak panjang dan mempunyai banyak selekoh, jadi saya perlu memahami selok belok litar dengan baik. Selepas sesi ini, saya merancang trategi lain bersama jurutera pasukan khususnya untuk mencari pelarasan paling sesuai,” jelas Hafizh.
Pengurus, Barry Leong turut bersependapat memandangkan Hafizh tidak pernah beraksi di litar ini. “Mudah-mudahan sesi latihan selepas ini Hafizh akan mencatat masa yang lebih baik,” jelasnya.
Johan Zarco muncul pelumba terpantas dengan catatan masa 2’09.312s.
