Malaysian Moto2 rider, Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah enjoyed a positive first day in the Australian Grand Prix as the PETRONAS Raceline Malaysia rider came in 12th quickest in the Moto2 practice session at the Phillip Island Circuit in Australia today.
The 20-year old recorded his fastest lap in 1’34.158s in the second practice (FP2), shaving off 0.574 seconds from his FP1 lap time earlier today.
Fastest time of the day for both sessions was made by Esteve Rabat of Marc VDS Racing Team in 1’33.057s.
“Though I have quite an experience racing SuperSports 600cc here in the past, I must say this track is not one of my favourite,” said Hafizh.
He added, “The strong winds made the conditions worst in the first practice. Thankfully, I made up for lost time in the second session with a better machine setup fixed to tackle the uphills and turns.
“The bike’s improvement was felt instantly in the second session and hopefully we can keep the momentum rolling for tomorrow because I’m still about 1.1 seconds behind Rabat,” he added.

Pelumba Moto2 negara, Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah memulakan saingan hari pertama Grand Prix Australia dengan positif apabila mencatat masa ke-12 terpantas pada sesi lathian bebas kedua di Litar Phillip Island, Aistralia, hari ini.
Pelumba PETRONAS Raceline Malaysia itu mencatat masa terbaik 1’34.158s serta berjaya memperbaiki catatan 1’34.732s yang dilakukan pada sesi latihan bebas pertama.
Catatan terpantas kedua-dua sesi dilakukan oleh Esteve Rabat (Marc VDS Racing Team) dengan masa 1’33.057s.
“Saya pernah beraksi dalam saingan SuperSports 600cc di sini dan secara peribadi, litar ini bukanlah litar kegemaran saya,” jelas Hafizh.
Tambahnya, “Faktor angin kuat mengganggu rentak pada sesi latihan bebas pertama. Sesi latihan bebas kedua berlangsung dengan lebih baik. Jentera juga dalam keadaan lebih baik khususnya di bahagian bukit dan selekoh yang laju.
“Faktor jentera banyak memain peranan pada sesi kedua tadi. Saya berharap keadaan ini akan dipertingkat agar dapat membantu saya mencatat masa lebih baik memandangkan saya masih 1.1s ketinggalan kepada pelumba terpantas, Rabat pada sesi kelayakan esok, ” jelas Amir.
