* Sin Li Jane-Esther Cheah down 2,651 pinfalls for gold medal

* More joy for Malaysia as Shalin Zulkifli-Syaidatul Afifah clinch bronze medal

A day after Rafiq Ismail won the men’s singles gold medal on Tuesday it was another golden outing for Malaysia in bowling in the 28th edition of the SEA Games on Wednesday at Orchid Country Club’s Orchid Bowl this time in the women’s doubles.

This time seasoned bowler Sin Li Jane and the evergreen Esther Cheah dented Singapore’s pride and supremacy by clinching the gold with 2,651 pinfalls  who was awarded the bronze in the singles despite finishing fourth after Singapore made a clean sweep of the top three places.

To round up a miserable day for the hosts, Indonesia won the silver with 2,545 pinfalls while another Malaysian pair of Shalin Zulkifli and Syaidatul Afifah (2,524) took the bronze.

And it was the “bonus” bronze that spurred 29-year-old Esther in the doubles with lines of 214, 199, 215, 220, 259 and 228 for her contribution of 1,335 pinfalls in Malaysia’s total of 2,651 – Li Jane’s contribution was 1,316 (247, 236, 214, 201, 194, 224)
