Sepang International Circuit logo-W524H222With the mid-season break now well and truly behind us, it is time to cast our sights to an event that promises to be one of the highlights of the second half of the motorsport season, the Sepang 12 Hours. The premier Asian endurance event for GT and Touring Cars attracts attention from all over the planet and some teams have already announced their entries for the December 13th event. An overview.

Adrian D’Silva and Infinity Race Engineering enter Ferrari 458 Italia GT3
Infinity Race Engineering is an Australian and Malaysian based race engineering team, specialising in all disciplines of circuit racing. Its black-and-silver Ferrari is a well-known sight on the Malaysian racing scene and driver Adrian D’Silva wants to end his jubilee year (2015 is his tenth year in motor racing) on a high. D’Silva has a wealth of racing knowledge, working with, and backing, world champions. In the Sepang 12 Hours D’Silva will be joined by experienced Australian Josh Hunt and double Sepang-winner Dominic Ang.

Wing Hin Motorsports wants to shine with TRD Toyota 86
The upcoming Sepang 12 Hours will see Wing Hin Motorsports fielding their famed TRD Toyota 86. The Kuala Lumpur based squad has plenty of experience through working with and for the Japanese constructor and has taken their cars to a number of successes. For the 2015 edition of the endurance classic, the team is counting on an experienced trio of Malaysian drivers: Kenny Lee (winner of the 2010 Sepang 1000 km.), touring car ace Boy Wong and William Ho. Their aim is simple, says Lee: “We are ready to take on the challenge and to contend for the top podium spot.”

Australian AMAC Motorsport brings Porsche to Sepang
Australian GT Championship squad AMAC Motorsport will also compete in the Sepang 12 Hours. The outfit owned by Australian GT regular Andrew Macpherson will contest the Malaysian event with a Porsche GT3-R. Experienced British driver James Winslow will join Macpherson and his regular team-mate Brad Shiels. “Sepang is a very technical track”, says Winslow. “It is one of my favourites. I am already looking forward to race with the AMAC boys again.”

More Porsches through GDL Racing Team Asia
Two more Stuttgart machines will be entered in the GTC class by GDL Racing Team Asia. Gianluca De Lorenzi created the Asian branch of his well-known San Marino-based squad at the beginning of this year, in order to facilitate their participation in the Sepang 12 Hours. Its Porsche 997 GT3 Cup S will be driven by Bruce Lee and Keong Liam Lim, while the GDL Porsche 991 will be in the hands of Keong Wee Lim and a yet to be determined driver.
Benjamin Franassovici, Project Manager of the Sepang 12 Hours: “This is our first Team news release and more will follow in the coming weeks. We are extremely encouraged by the response from both teams and drivers from most continents. Teams from Asia, Australasia, and Europe will take part in the Sepang 12 Hours. Our experience transport partners JAS, managed by Mike Zimmerman’s team, is offering transport from all corners of the globe and at this level such a partner is essential. All classes will be represented in December’s race, from Touring Production to GT3 cars, I can’t wait to be on the grid and see the Sepang 12 Hours grow bigger and bigger year after year.”
