# Champions to get RM5,000
The total prize money for the 8th series of the Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor 1Malaysia Sabah Team Tennis Invitational tournament has been been increased from RM10,000 to RM15,000.
This year’s tournament from Sept 25-27 will be played at the Likas tennis and Sutera Harbour tennis courts in Kota Kinabalu.
With the increase in total prize money the champions will receive RM 5,000, runners-up RM 3,000, third RM 2,000.00. The prize money previously was RM4,500, RM2,500 and RM1,500 respectively.
Sabah Tennis Association president Johnson Koh said defending champions Lakeview Club will once again start as favourites together with Tarakan of Indonesia, Lakeview Adidas, Lakeview Wilson – all two time winners each.
Other teams are Singapore Advantage, KK Frenz, Jakarta Tennis Team and Philippines Club.
The categories to be competed are men’s doubles age 25 and above, 35 and above, 45 and above and 55 above while it is aged 35 years and above the ladies category.
“We are expecting a keener battle this time around and it will not be a surprise if a new name is engraved on the trophy,” said Johnson Koh who extended an invitation to the Prime Minister’s wife to grace the prize presentation and give away the trophy on Sept 27.
Johnson paid a courtesy call on Datin Seri Rosmah together with tournament advisor Datin Lindai Liew and Daniel Tan when she was in Kota Kinabalu during the Malaysia Day celebrations on Sept 16.
