The COBRA RUGBY CLUB has announced the dates for the Cobra 10s which is to be held next month in the Klang Valley.

The 10-a-side competition, fondly known as the home of rugby 10s, is the highlight of the Malaysian rugby calendar. This competition returns after a year’s hiatus, and promises a feast of rugby on 7-8 November 2015.

Cobra Rugby Club has also been extremely fortunate to secure corporate sponsorship to enable them to host the prestigious tournament this year.

This year’s tournament will have a total of 16 teams and it will also be the first time that a two-tier competition will be introduced in the Cobra 10s.

“It is very humbling and a great honour for a small club like ours to be able to rattle off a list of household names as our sponsors. However, it has been support of this nature which inspires COBRA to want to continue to host this homegrown rugby event, which is now into its 45th tournament”, said Tan Sri Krishnan Tan, the
Organising Chairman of the Cobra 10s.

“It is hoped that with this event being held during the weekend after the Rugby World Cup finals the interest generated in rugby will encourage more fans to watch the tournament.”

“Rugby in this country has been growing both in popularity as well quality. We believe that COBRA Rugby Club and also the COBRA 10s have played a small role at least in this growth.”, said Lt Col (Rtd) Tommy Pereira, President, COBRA.

This year’s tournament will have a total of 16 teams and it will also be the first time that a two-tier competition will be introduced in the Cobra 10s.

There will also be a showcase of junior rugby in the 2-day carnival and therefore fans can expect a weekend of high quality and fun rugby to boot.

The matches will be played ten-a-side in accordance with World Rugby by-laws with the ten-a-side variations of the game as adopted by the Malaysian Rugby Union (MRU).
