Harimau Malaya temporary coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee will call up four players for Malaysia’s last group A match of the 2018 World Cup/2019 Asian Cup Qualifying Round this Tuesday.

According to Ong, he will change four players who were fielded in the game in Amman, Jordan due to injuries and yellow cards.

“Their places will be taken by Safee Sali, Azaruddin Akil, Badrul Bakthiar and Jasazrin Jamaludin,” he told reporters upon returning from Amman at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here tonight.

He said the players to be rested were Razman Roslan and Nazirul Naim who were injured while Amri Yahyah collected two yellow cards.

Meanwhile, Azwan Bakri was released for his wedding next week.

On the last group A match this Tuesday at the Shah Alam Stadium, Ong hopes the players will put up a more credible performance.

“This is the last match in the FIFA calendar so we have to put up a better performance than the game against Palestine,” he said.

Malaysia will meet United Arab Emirates (UAE) in an empty stadium following the decision imposed by FIFA for the disturbance by local fans during the Malaysia-Saudi Arabia match on Sept 8, at the same venue.

On the 0-6 defeat of Harimau Malaya to Palestine again, Ong regretted it was major defeat.

“We failed to defend our goal after playing well for 35 minutes. We could not control the long passes as well as other factors,” he said.

According to him, Malaysia needed a longer period of time to prepare the national team, especially when facing teams from the Middle East. – BERNAMA
