Thongchai Jaidee

Quick Quotes

  1. Take us through your round today.
THONGCHAI JAIDEE: We don’t have any bogey. Europe plays good on the back nine. It’s okay, this format, you have to keep the ball in the fairway. We had a lot of trouble today. We missed a lot of fairway. The back nine, coming back a little bit. We start birdie 11, 12, 13, and make a good par every hole. 16 we lost 3 & 2, not bad. They played so well, it doesn’t matter. This format, you never know. Try my best. I think anything, we look forward to see tomorrow what’s going on. I think a few more groups going to continue, try to tell them something to get some points back.FastScripts Transcript by ASAP Sports

Anirban Lahiri

Quick Quotes

  1. Thoughts on the round?
ANIRBAN LAHIRI: It was very disappointing. I think for foursomes, the whole point is for both of us to keep it on the fairway and hit a lot of greens and take our opportunities. I don’t think we did that very well today. Too many holes where either I put Wu out of position or he put me out of position. It’s hard to recover from there. We lost a few holes to pars, and that’s what you can’t really do in this format. So, it’s quite disappointing. I don’t think we played that bad to lose 5 & 4, but I think we lost three or four holes in the last six. It slipped away really quickly. Unfortunately you have to play good around the bend here. All the matches, they are pretty much being decided between holes 8 and 14 in terms of the momentum swing. That’s the stretch I played badly yesterday, I played badly today.

So I guess tomorrow is redemption today. We are going to be a few points back, obviously. It’s going to take a big effort, and I’m definitely going to show up.

    Q. This was Wu’s first time playing the EurAsia Cup. How did he play? Was nervous out there?
ANIRBAN LAHIRI: I think it’s always hard when it’s your first time. I experienced it at The Presidents Cup. Even playing the EurAsia Cup two years back. It’s not easy, especially foursomes. He’s a really good player. He’s a fantastic ball-striker, great golfer.

Obviously it’s been a tough week for both of us. But I’m sure we will bounce back from our experiences.

    Danny Chia

    Nicholas Fung

    Quick Quotes

    1. How good is it to get something out of a hard-fought match?
DANNY CHIA: It’s a good feeling but it’s a bit of disappointment, as well. We hit some bad shots today, but again, still getting a half-point, so there’s nothing much we can do but I’m still quite happy with how my partnership with Nicholas been the last two days, yeah.

      Q. Is it harder to take when you’ve got the euphoria of 16 and then you come down the last two holes?
NICHOLAS FUNG: Well, I got a great putt on 16. But I missed a short putt on 17. I was a bit nervous. It’s the first time so many people watching us on the last few holes, so maybe a bit nervous, even though I come back to the 18th hole.

      Q. You wouldn’t have faced this kind of environment in other times?
DANNY CHIA: It’s a bit different. We’re playing for our team, our nation. We are playing for Asia. I think the pressure is a bit different, I mean, compared to when we play tournament, we play for ourselves. It’s slightly different.

      Q. When you look at the board, I appreciate it’s very much in favor of blue, but your half-point, like on the first day, that would be vital, particularly bearing in mind what happened two years ago.
NICHOLAS FUNG: Yeah, look at the result, but I know today, Europe won four majors, and we still got a another day for singles. So anything’s possible. Maybe our Asia can win all the majors. We do our best for tomorrow.

      Q. Remaining positive?
DANNY CHIA: Absolutely. In fact, I actually learned quite a few things about myself these two days. I’m actually very happy about it, yeah.
