# ‘Team solely picked by me’  Frost

# BAM Council endorses team

The negatives have been hurled quick and fast but Badminton Association of Malaysia technical director Morten Frost has a simple message for the critics – “have faith in the team.”

And the Dane is not letting the critics stand in the way as Malaysia rebuilds its badminton team to be a powerhouse in the sport once again.

“This team is solely picked by me, There was no interference from ‘outside’ and I am confident this team is the future of Malaysian badminton.

Malaysia have left out seasoned names like Datuk Lee Chong Wei, Chong Wei Feng in the men’s singles and doubles pair of Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong and Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong for the Asia Team Championships to be held in Hyderabad, India from Feb 15-21.

The Asian meet also serves as a qualifier for the the Thomas Cup Finals which will take place in Kunshan, China from May 15-22.

Former World and Asian junior champion Zulfadli Zulkifli will be Malaysia’s first singles. The rest of the singles players are national champion Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin, Soo Tecj Zhi and Soong Joo Ven.

“I am confident we will prevail based on the criteria of selection and our current ranking in the world,” said Frost after the BAM’s council meeting in Genting Highlands on Saturday.

The doubles pair picked are Tan Kian Meng-Low Juan Shen, Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi, and Tan Chee Tean-Tan Wee Gieen.

The council meeting was chaired by BAM acting president Tan Sri Mohamed Al Amin Abdul Majid. The council later endorsed the team to the Asian meet.
