Two goals in each half of an exhilarating encounter at the Likas Stadium gave the Malaysian womenā€™s football team a hard fought 2-0 win over their Singapore counterparts this week.

In a game which both teams were using to polish up for the AFF Womenā€™s Championship later this month, the home team opened up the scoring after just 13 minutes of play when midfielder Norsuriani Mazli latched on to a teasing cross from Jaciah Jumilis.

Singapore custodian Noor Kusumawati Rosmanā€™s goal was breached again into the second half when Malaysian captain Angela Kais rounded off a move in the 75th minute.

The Malaysian womenā€™s team under head coach Asyraaf Abdullah will be leaving for China in two days.

ā€œThe match against Singapore was our first real test as it was against a womenā€™s team. Previously, we only played against the menā€™s team,ā€ said Asyraaf.

ā€œSince the team has been playing with menā€™s team, their confidence level is good. But we still have some ways to go yet especially in the final quarter of the pitch.

In China, the Malaysian girls have lined up a match against Guangdong FC.
