Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen held off a fast-finishing Frenchman Nacer Bouhanni to win the opening stage of the Eneco Tour on Monday.

World champion Peter Sagan of Slovakia took third at the end of the 185km stage in the Netherlands.

The Eneco Tour used to be known as the Tour of Benelux, although it no longer crosses into Luxembourg, remaining in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Tuesday’s second stage is a 9.5km individual time trial in Breda. The tour ends on Sunday.
