Japanese broadcaster to continue airing of WorldSBK

J SPORTS Corporation and Dorna WSBK Organization are thrilled to announce the agreement of a contract extension, assuring that every round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship will continue to be broadcast throughout Japan. This renewal is announced as anticipation grows for the opening round of the 2017 season at Phillip Island from 24th – 26th February.

Starting the season with a strong presence and on-site coverage; the WorldSBK programme will be shown on prime time Monday slots, as key protagonists Kawasaki, Honda and Yamaha face each other down on track.

The birthplace of WorldSSP riders Hikari Okubo, Kazuki Watanabe and Hiromichi Kunikawa, Japan is becoming an ever expanding market for the WorldSBK series, and fans will continue to be kept up to speed with their local riders.

Ensuring fans never miss a minute of the action; they will be able to watch the high speed racing live with English commentary on the channel’s internet service, thanks to the support of Pirelli.

J SPORTS are celebrating their 20 year anniversary, and this extension with WorldSBK is a perfect celebration for both parties. Providing four dedicated sports channels; “J SPORTS 1”, “J SPORTS 2”, “J SPORTS 3” and “J SPORTS 4” it is the biggest sports TV broadcaster in Japan. The company plans, produces and broadcasts a wide variety of domestic and overseas sports programmes on TV channels and J SPORTS On Demand, an OTT service.

Shin KINOSHITA, J SPORTS President explains: “J SPORTS are committed to bringing motorsport to a wider audience, and we have a very big opportunity to provide fans with the trackside adrenaline, bringing them closer to the action using technologies such as live OTT video. We are proud and delighted to announce this extension and we look forward to continue working with Dorna, to provide the thrill of racing to our J SPORTS screens.”

Manel Arroyo, Managing Director, Dorna Sports, added: “This new agreement with J SPORTS is another demonstration of a strong partnership for the Championship, for the far-reaching fan base of World Superbike and the Motorcycling community embedded within Japan, J SPORTS shares that same target market of WorldSBK perfectly. World Superbikes is a global sport and to work with a broadcast partner such as J SPORTS, continuing with another language to the many in which WorldSBK is already broadcast, is another exciting step as we take WorldSBK into a new era.”
