Felda United were the better team on the night instead The Fighters could only manage a scoreless draw against Ceres Negros of the Philippines in a Group G AFC Cup match at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City on Wednesday.

In fact B. Satianathan and his team would have returned home with three points if not for a muffed penalty and poor finishing. The main culprit was their on loan Argentine hitman Lucas Cano.

First he failed to score from the spot after Norshahrul Idlan Talaha was brought down inside the box by Ceres defender Jse Porteria on the hour mark. The Argentine’s tame bouncing shot was saved by Ceres goalkeeper Roland Mueller.

And Roland turned out to be the star of the night in front of nearly 9,000 fans when he also stopped several other attempts on his goal. Cano even shot wide with a yawning goal in front of him.

With the draw in Bacolod City the Malaysian outfit remained at the bottom of Group G with only two points after three matches. Felda lost 2-1 to Singapore’s Tampines Rovers away before picking up a point in the 1-1 draw against Hanoi FC at home.

Ceres top the table with five points – same as Hanoi FC who won 4-0 at the My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi but separated by goal difference. Tampines are in third spot with three points.

Hanoi FC ran riot to hand Tampines another big defeat after losing 5-0 to Negros. The homesters scored through Loris Arnaud (16th), Ngueyn Van Quyet (65th), Do Hung Dung (89th) and Gonzalo Maronkie (93rd, penalty).
