Negri Sembilan’s 14-match unbeaten run came to an end at the Selayang Stadium on Monday, losing 2-3 to Kuala Lumpur and it was a painful defeat which saw the City Boys taking over as the new leaders in the 100PLUS Premier League.
With the win Kuala Lumpur and Negri Sembilan have 32 points each after 15 matches but the City Boys are on top with a better goal difference.
Perak SEDC (PKNP) continued with their impressive run in the lower tier league with a 3-1 win over Sabah at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu and are third in the table with 31 points – the same as fourth placed Terengganu – 2-0 winners over Armed Forces at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.
Negri Sembilan staged a late fightback but Kuala Lumpur held on for full points in a thriller to wrest top spot in the 12-team league.
Kuala Lumpur were comfortably 3-0 up by the 81st minute – riding on Guilherme De Paula’s 12th minute headed goal before Paulo Josue hit a brace on 78th and 81st minutes.
Then came the fright from Negri Sembilan and Bruno Suzuki pulled one back in the 84th minute before former international Farderin Kadir got the second deep into injury time.
The Turtles took the lead in the 38th minute through a header by Lazaro Vinicisu off a corner kick by Mohamed Ridzuan and Gabriel Dos Santos executed a brilliant freekick for the second in injury time.
At the Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium in Kangar it was a 3-1 win for Perlis against Kuantan FA while UiTM FC and MISC-MIFA played to a 3-3 draw at the UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam to share the spoils.
JDT II edged Police 1-0 at the Pasir Gudang Stadium in a mid-table clash with Alexander Smith netting the winner as early as the eighth minute. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
