Dato’ Seri Zolkples Embong, the Chief Executive Officer of MASOC (KL2017 Organising  Committee) said that while seating capacity in some venues will be increased, they will still monitor and control ticket sale to make sure that it does not get out of hand.

Tickets for KL2017 have been selling like hotcakes, where among the popular sports are basketball, netball and taekwondo, as well as the finals of the pencak silat and swimming events.

Zolkples said that it most likelihood, MASOC will increase the number of seats for certain events like the netball event in Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara and also the sepaktakraw event at the Titiwangsa Stadium.

“The Juara Stadium can accommodate up to 1000 spectators at any one time, so we may consider increasing the seat allocation,” explained Zolkples.

“I have asked the various sports association to improve each venue, so that we may have the possibility of increasing the number of seats in cases where tickets are sold out.”

Zolkples also added that MASOC will also reserve some tickets for certain Malaysian supporters other than the need to consider the security aspect.

“We will control the increase in ticket sales. Tickets will not be sold entirely to the public.

‘We will reserve tickets for prioritized parties like the athletes, the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), governmental agencies and also VIPs,” he said. – BY DESLYN YOON
