Malaysian Loro Wellkinson Peuji claimed bronze in the men’s 77kg and below SEA Games weightlifting competition with a total lift of 295kg (135kg snatch, 160kg clean & jerk) at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre on Tuesday (Aug 29).

Indonesian Ketut Ariana won gold with an overall lift of 325kg (147kg snatch, 178kg clean & jerk) while Nguyen Hong Ngoc of Vietnam was rewarded the silver medal with a total lift of 307kg (140 snatch, 167kg clean & jerk).

Thailand’s Chatuphum Chinnawong, however, withdrew from the competition due to an injury on his left shoulder.

“My personal best was lifting 171kg (clean and jerk). I thought I could have done better but I was nervous. I am not very satisfied with my performance but I will definitely try harder next time,” said Wellkinson.

In the men’s 69kg category,  Indonesia’s Deni (just one name) who competed in the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics,  bagged the gold  with a total lift of 312kg (142kg snatch, 170kg clean & jerk).

Thailand’s Trirat Boonsuk won silver with a 310kg total lift (140kg, 170kg) while Pham Tuan Anh took bronze following a total lift of 306kg (135kg, 171kg).
