Myanmar are on a roll after winning their opening two matches – 2-0 against Singapore and 3-1 against Laos – to top Group A with six points, ahead of Malaysia on goal difference.

The 3-1 win over Laos at the UiTM FC Stadium in Shah Alam on Wednesday, however, was far from impressive in the eyes their German coach Gerd Friedrich Horst Zeise.

“We scored the first goal and we could have scored more for a bigger victory margin over Laos… but it did not happen.

“There is still a lot of work to be done. We made a lot of mistakes and allowed Laos to attack.

“So for me, the team’s performance was a bad performance really. The boys were not focused and the ball circulation didn’t work.

“From what I’ve seen we are too nervous. Even the seniors are not handling the pressure well and that is a problem that needs to be worked on.

“We are strong when we made 18 passes and scored a goal against Singapore. That is football,” said Zeise whose team face Malaysia on Monday as the two tussle for the top spot.

Myanmar won the silver at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore.
