Dutch rider Lars Boom claimed victory on the fifth stage of the BinckBank Tour on Friday to seize the overall leader’s green jersey lead with two days left in the race which crosses Belgium and the Netherlands.

It was the Lotto-NL cyclist’s first win in two years and the relief was obvious as he threw his arms into the air as he crossed the line in Sittard-Geleen after 167.3km.

Boom finished three seconds ahead of world champion Peter Sagan who is now second in the overall standings. – Agence France-Presse
