THE appearance of Datuk Marina Chin at the National Sailing Centre in Langkawi on Friday (25 Aug) morning provided a boost to the Malaysian SEA Games sailors to do well in their events.
āI saw that they were smiling, itās a very good sign to me. That means to say that they are confident and for me, all I need them to do is to go out and do their best,ā said Marina.
The Malaysian Chef-de- Mission (CDM) took time off to meet up personally with the sailors and even went out on the water to see them in action, and they did not disappoint.
āI donāt believe in putting pressure by saying that you need to win gold medals and things like that but just for them to go out and do their best, thatās it,ā said the former track queen.
Meanwhile, Nurul Shazwanie Mohd Saad continued to shine on the second day of the Optimist fleet races by finishing first in both races ahead of competitors from Thailand, Singapore and Myanmar. In the Boys event, Muhammad Fauzi Kaman Shah also maintained his position at the top of the table when he placed second and first respectively.
For Ahmad Latif Khan Ali Sabri Khan, seeing his younger brother Fauzi winning a gold medal in the team event earlier this week is a good motivation for him to perform well.
āI will try my best to match (Fauziās) performance,ā said Latif, who placed first and second respectively to top the table for Laser Radial Menās event.
In other races held today, Malaysia is leading in the International 420 (Men) and International 470 (Men) while coming in second for International 470 (Women), Laser Radial (Women) and RS One (Women). Sailors in Laser Standard, International 420 (Women) and RS One Men meanwhile ended the day in third place overall.
