9th ASEAN Para Games KL2017 – Shot Put Women F42 F44 Gold Medallist – Doriah Poulus

Malaysian athletes grabbed seven more gold medals on the last day of Para Games athletics competition at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Friday (Sept 22).

The Malaysians closed their chapter in the 9th ASEAN Para Games with 36 gold medals, 27 silver and 23 bronze medals.

However, Indonesia became the new athletics powerhouse in the region with 40 gold medals, 28 silver and 17 bronze, while defending champion Thailand dropped to third spot with 26 gold, 33 silver and 31 bronze.

The national squad’s gold rush began with veteran Faridul Masri in the men’s shot putt F56 (wheelchair) – 9.24 metres. World champion Abdul Latif Romly defended his long jump T20 (Learning Disability) gold after clearing 7.41 metres.

Doriah Poulus contributed the third gold in the women’s shot put F42/44 (Limb Deficiency) after recording 546 points.

Erens Sabandar contributed Indonesia’s first gold on Friday in the 200m T45/46 (physical impairment) in a time of 23.49s.

Alan Sastra took gold in men’s shot putt F57 (wheelchair – 11.04m) followed by Abdul Halim Dalimunte (men’s 200m T 11 (visual impairment – 24.04s and Nur Ferry Pradana (women’s 200m T47 (physical impairment – 22.49s).

The men’s 4x400m T42-47 (physical impairment) quartet of Erens Sabandar, Mega Amir Sidik, Martin Losu and Wagiyo won the last gold for Indonesia by clocking 3:43.15s.
