9th ASEAN Para Games 2017 - RIMAU MaskotCambodia and Thailand sealed straight wins over host Malaysia to enhance their prospects for a gold medal in the Para Sitting Volleyball competition at MITEC on Tuesday (Sept 19).

The Malaysians lost 3-0 (19-25, 19-25, and 15-25) against Cambodia and Thailand respectively (17-25, 17-25, and 20-25) – results that have put paid to their chances of progressing further in the Games for a medal.

Malaysian coach Ahmad Musthakim Kamarukman said the Thais and Cambodians are experienced opposition having been in the game for a long time.

“We have a lot of catching up to do and for the now the experience gained here is immense and good for the players,” said Ahmad Musthakim. “It is a good platform for the players to gain knowledge. The more we are involved in the game the better the players can become.”

All the teams will play once again in the second round of the competition on Wednesday (20 Sept).
