Britain’s triple Olympic cycling gold medalist Ed Clancy says he is looking forward to returning to the track after over a year’s absence for the World Cup meet next month in Manchester.

The 32-year-old — whose three Olympic golds came in the team pursuit (2008-16) — had taken time out since last year’s Olympics for road racing.

“I have a lot of good memories of racing in Manchester, the highlight of which is always the atmosphere and knowing the crowd is behind you,” he said.

“I enjoyed taking some time away from the track last season to focus on the road, but I’ve been back in training at the velodrome for the past couple of months and I’m really enjoying it.”

Clancy, who will compete in the endurance events, will be joined by fellow British Olympic champions Steven Burke, Phil Hindes, Callum Skinner, Katie Archibald and Elinor Barker for the meeting which takes place from November 10-12.-Agence France-Presse
