# Hyun-woo out for six to eight months
# ‘We will look for another Korean for replacement’ – Irfan Bakti
Just when things were looking good for Terengganu – rebranded as Terengganu FC I – head coach Irfan Bakti moans the loss of his prized possession, South Korean striker Kim Hyun-Woo for their campaign in the Super League this season.
The 28-year-old Korean suffered knee injury (ACL) during Terengganu’s recent three-match playing tour of Cambodia where the Turtles won one match and lost two.
“What looked like a normal knock on the knee turned out to be more serious. Kim is now out between six to eight months which has forced us to look for a replacement…possibly we will get another Korean,” said Irfan from Kuala Terengganu on Sunday.
A day earlier the Turtles, at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu his team won the Menteri Besar’s Trophy after defeating their sister club Terengganu FC II (formerly know as T-Team) in their final match in a quadrangular.
Terengganu FC II will ply their football trade in the lower-tier 100 Plus Premier League. The other teams in the quadrangular were Super League outfits Pahang and Malacca United.
The Turtles won all their matches – defeating Pahang 4-2, Malacca United 5-0 before wrapping it up with a 4-2 win over Terengganu FC II. The Menteri Besar’s Trophy came with a RM50,000 prize money for the champions.
“It is good to win…but I am more than happy and pleased that we are gelling as a team. That is more important. Of course Kim’s injury is a big blow to us but I am confident we will be able to get an able replacement although time is against us,” said Irfan who guided Terengganu back to the Super League after a year in the Premier League.
“The matches in Cambodia were of high quality. We lost two but it enabled me to know the weaknesses in the team. This we ironed out in the quadrangular.”
Irfan has set a high top-three target in the Super League and to win at least one of the two Cups (Malaysia Cup and the FA Cup) – which he believes is within reach of the Turtles. Last season, Terengganu, despite playing in the Premier League in 2017 did well to reach the FA Cup semi-finals before bowing out to eventual champions Kedah. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
