Philippines finally made the cut for the Asian Cup 2019 last night following their close 2-1 win over Tajikistan at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Nazarov Akhtam had given the visiting Tajikistan the lead in the 62nd minute from the spot following a foul by Kevin Ingreso.

But the latter then made it up with the equalise with a well taken header in the 73rd minute before Philip Younghusband then clinched the winner right at the death for the win to top Group F.

The win allowed the Philippines to join other ASEAN qualified teams Australia, Thailand and Vietnam for the Asian Cup 2019 that will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates.
