Perak staged a late fightback after being down 3-1 at one stage and then rode on a last-minute penalty goal for a 4-3 win over Perak SEDC (PKNP) in a seven-goal thriller at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh on Saturday.

Brazilian Gilmar Da Silva scored from the spot and Perak were celebrating full points to keep their second place in the 12-team Super League. Four-time champions Johor Darul Takzim remained on top with 28 points.

Perak opened the scoring after eight minutes through Norhakim Hassan PKNP were on top after the early setback.

Franklin Anzite equalized on 33 minutes before Syamin Basharuddin and Hakim Isa took the score to 3-1 with goals in the 60th and 68th minutes respectively.

Perak started the fightback through skipper Nasir Basharuddin netting in the 76th minute and Wander Luiz (84th) before Gilmar broke the hearts of PKNP from the spot.

At the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu, a well-executed strike by substitute Ashaari Samsudin handed Terengganu a 1-0 win over Melaka United.

Ashaari, known as the ‘silent killer’ trapped a poor clearance by a Melaka defender and took a half-turn before unleashing a right-footed volley into the far corner past goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat.

Kedah kept their winning ways in the league with a 2-1 win over Selangor at the KLFA Stadium in Cheras. The Red Eagles led 2-0 with goals by Baddrol Bakthiar (28th) and Liridon Krasniqi (52nd) before Syahmi Safari pulled one back for Selangor on 70 minutes.

Negri Sembilan got their second victory in the league with a 2-0 win over Kelantan at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi with goals by Alex Moraes (16th) and Angel Guirado (37th minute, penalty). RIZAL ABDULLAH
