Interest from local and regional fans sees tickets in Bronze and Silver categories selling fast; international fans show keen interest in top-tier seats

Fan excitement is driving sales of public tickets to the highly anticipated title fight between Manny Pacquiao and Lucas Matthysse for the World Boxing Association welterweight title, to be held at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur on 15 July 2018.

Sales have been particularly brisk in the Bronze and Silver ticket categories since the tickets went on sale on 7 June, spurred by interest from local and regional fans. Fans are urged to act fast to ensure they get hold of a ticket in the Bronze and Silver categories, priced at RM488 and RM988 respectively, to avoid disappointment as a significant portion of the tickets have already been sold.

“The initial sales are encouraging and we are thrilled by the strong response and support from boxing fans across the region especially the international fans who purchased the tickets in bulk. We are expecting the excitement to further build over the weekend as fans spread the word to other fans who may not have read the news on the ticket sales. As the Bronze and Silver category tickets are going fast, we encourage fans not to delay their ticket purchase, to ensure they can secure a seat in their preferred area,” said Mohd Fairuz Ibrahim, Operations Director of MPKL Events.

The VIP and VVIP categories also saw positive response with international boxing fans and also across the region wasting no time in taking up front row seats within hours of the tickets going on sale. Fans who purchase the VIP and VVIP tickets will be able to witness the showdown between Pacquiao and Argentine champion Matthysse up close, besides also enjoying several exclusive privileges.

In addition to the main draw – the fight between the Pacman and the Machine, there are another three title fights as well as five undercard fights, thus offering an exciting package of action in the ring, giving fans total value for their ticket price. With the GST zero rated since 1 June, fans can purchase the tickets without the 6% tax, adding further savings.

There are seven categories of public tickets – RM488 for Bronze, RM988 for Silver, RM1,388 for Gold, RM1,988 for Platinum, RM3,988 for Diamond, RM7,988 for VIP and RM19,888 for the VVIP ticket.

There will be a RM5 ticketing fee applied to all tickets sold. Tickets are available online via the MyTicket.Asia site. Purchases can be made using credit and debit cards from MasterCard and Visa only. For fans who prefer to buy tickets at the arena, ticket sales at the counter will be announced at a later date.
