MIC FC of Myanmar and East Coast Heat FC from Australia made the semi-finals of the AFF Futsal Club Championship from Group A following their commanding performances in their second round of matches today at the GOR UNY in Jogjakarta.

MIC put down Cambodia’s debuting representative UYFC Komchaymear FC 4-2 while East Coast FC blew away Arbisyam FC of Brunei 10-0. It the second full points for both winning teams.

Following from yesterday’s howler, UYFC Komchaymear were determined to put up a better showing and they certainly gave it their all against a confident MIC side who have been a consistent performer throughout the years.

And while UYFC managed to fend off the onslaught at the start, the change for the prolific Pyae Phyo Maung would change things.

MIC finally broke the deadlock in the seventh minute, when Phyo Maung turned a defender before setting up for Kyaw Soe Moe to score.

The side from Myanmar, who finished third in 2015 and 2016, doubled their advantage in the 16th minute with Hlaing Min Tun.

UYFC then replied with their first goal of the game score and also the tournament through Sothearith in the 21st minute for the score to stand at 2-1 to MIC’s favour.

The red card on goalkeeper Kyaw Htet Aung in the 23rd minute would change the tide to UYFC’s favour when they took full use of their numerical advantage for Sothearith to nail the equaliser.

The game then went into higher gear soon after as UYFC felt the draw of winning their first point of the competition while MIC became under pressure to prove their pedigree.

A second red card in the game – this time on UYFC’s Tat Phandy in the 35th minute – gave the advantage to MIC and they made full use of it for Phyo Maung to score before as his other name sake Phyo Muang then rounded off a fine morning with the fourth goal of the game for their second full points of the competition.

In the meantime, East Coast Heat FC did not suffer such drama when they lambasted Brunei’s Arbisyam with ten goals with no reply.

The physically superior Australians had Anthony Haddad on with four goals (first, 16th, 27th and 30th minute).

The remainder of the goals were scored by Daniel Fornito (5th and 30th minute), Christopher Barbera (6th), Daniel Muzzareeli (13th), Matthew Mazevski (13th) and Jordan Guerreiro (21st).
