Selangor club PKNS FC shot themselves in the foot after going down 3-2 to Premier League champions Felda United in a Group B Malaysia Cup match at the Shah Alam Stadium on Sunday.

It was a heartbreak defeat for PKNS who seemed to be cruising to victory after netting two goals by the 21st minute with goals by their Brazilian hitman Rafael Ramazotti on 16 minutes before Singaporean international Faris Ramli added the second.

However, Felda United hauled themselves back on track – thanks to a 38th-minute penalty which was converted by their Filipino import Iain Ramsay after Gilberto Fortunato was felled by PKNS defender Qayyaum Marjoni inside the box.

It turned out to be a costly penalty. It gave Felda the much-needed boost and confidence in the second half. On the other hand, PKNS lost their momentum.

Fortunato made it 2-2 for Felda on 68 minutes and Wan Amirul Afiq completed the scoring in the 81st minute to keep his team’s unbeaten record and retain their place on the top with seven points after three matches.

PKNS with four points remained second while Melaka United is third with three points and Police at the bottom with only one point.

Meanwhile, Perak is back in contention for a place in the knockout stage after a 2-0 win over Kuala Lumpur at the KLFA Stadium in Cheras.

Lebanese defender Jad Noureddine gave Perak the opening goal in the 40th minute before Brazilian striker Gilmar Da Silva got the second on 64 minutes.

Full points off Kuala Lumpur took Perak to the second spot in Group A – three points behind leaders Terengganu. K. Lumpur is third with three points and Felcra at the bottom with only two points. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
