His horse Rosenstolz faced stress and Malaysian equestrian hope Qabil Ambak lost by a narrow 0.4 points and had to settle for a silver in the individual dressage on Thursday.

The 38-year-old Malaysian was a hot favorite at the Jakarta International Equestrian Park but his 76.620 points were only worth a silver – losing out to Hong Kong’s Jacqueline Siu who totaled 77.045 that gave her the gold medal while the bronze went to South Korean Kim Hyeok (75.705).

“It would have been better if I had won the gold…everything is in God’s hands and I accept it,” Qabil was quoted on his silver medal.

Qabil reportedly spent RM1 million to compete in the 18th Asian Games after a long layoff of eight years.

In Jakarta, Qabil rode his sister Quzandria Nur’s horse he took over after the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur in August last year. Quzandria won the SEA Games dressage gold, defeating Qabil who won the silver.
