Guangzhou Evergrande were looking to close the gap behind leaders Shanghai SIPG down to one point with a win over Jiangsu Suning in the Chinese Super League on Sunday.

But the home side had other ideas and took the lead inside the first minute – Eder Martins with the final touch.

Surprisingly, Jiangsu doubled their lead on eight minutes – Li Ang with the connection from Gao Tianyi’s delivery.

Guangzhou should have pulled one back just before the break but Chen Long misdirected his header.

After the break, however, the hosts did put themselves back into the contest – Paulinho with the 63rd-minute header to make it 2-1.

Evergrande evened things up ten minutes later when Talisca fired home from distance.

And the defending champions took the lead after another five minutes – Talisca again the scorer, this time with a curling shot, to make it 3-2.

Three-two was the final score as Guangzhou kept up significant pressure on SIPG. SNTV
