Malaysian shuttlers failed to make the quarter-finals in the men’s doubles and the mixed dubles in the USD1 million Victor China Open in Changzhou after losing their second-round matches on Thursday.

Most disappointing was Malaysia’s number one men’s doubles pair Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong who failed to make it count in the rubber despite holding a 19-17 lead and lost 21-14, 17-21, 21-19 in 49 minutes to Indonesia’s Ricky Karandasuwardi-Angga Pratama.

Earlier Malaysia’s number two pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi also fell in three games to China’s second seeds Li Junhui-Liu Yuchen – a 21-15, 17-21, 21-17 defeat in 55 minutes.

Mixed doubles hope Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing battled for 63 minutes but could stop fourth seeds Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong China from advancing to the quarter-finals with 19-21, 21-16, 24-22 win.
