A final version of the 2019-2020 FIA World Endurance Championship calendar* has today been presented to the FIA Endurance Commission, presided over by Richard Mille, with modifications to the dates of the Japanese and Chinese rounds being the principal changes since the calendar was first announced on 17 August.Â
Following the publication of the 2019 Formula One calendar, which placed the Japanese Grand Prix on the same provisional date as the 6 Hours of Fuji, it was apparent to the WEC Promoter and Fuji Speedway that a change would have to be made. The date of the 6 Hours of Fuji has now been brought forward by a week to Sunday 6th October 2019 to avoid a clash.Â
With an extra week available for freight transfer between Japan and China, the date for the 4 Hours of Shanghai has also been modified to 10th November 2019, thus also avoiding a clash with the popular Macau Grand Prix event.Â
âOur 2019-2020 season calendar features the same venues and race lengths we announced at Silverstone,â said GĂŠrard Neveu, CEO of the WEC. âbut, following the F1 calendar publication, we have modified two dates. The knock-on benefit of this is that we will now avoid a clash with both IMSAâs Petit Le Mans and the Macau GT event which is a bonus for both competitors and fans of endurance racing around the world.âÂ
The FIA WEC 2019-2020 calendar will be submitted to the FIA World Motor Sport Council for approval in Paris on 12th October.Â
