While V. Sundramoorthy might just have been unveiled as the new head coach of Laos, still it has not prevented the former Singapore international from getting down to the brass tacks.

The iconic midfielder, who served the Lions for more than a decade in the mid 80s, was officially unveiled as the new head coach of Laos as they look to add further dimension to their game following the change in format to the AFF Suzuki Cup this year.

Sundramoorthy, who also had two stints coaching the Singapore national team, has signed a three-year contract with his first assignment being the friendly against Mongolia on 16 October 2018.

“I am very honoured to take up this role as head coach of the Laos national team. I arrived here three days ago and started working with the team where we have a set of players who maybe young but are dynamic,” said Sundramoorthy.

“I have also assessed our strengths and weaknesses for the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup 2018.”

Added Viphet Sihachakr, the President of the Laos Football Federation (LFF): “we are delighted to have Sundram with us. We have known each other since the 25th SEA Games in Vientiane. The players we have are very young but we see Sundram as the person to bring out the best from them.”

For the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018, Laos are drawn in Group A against Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar and Cambodia.
