Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin delivered again Malaysia swept to a 5-0 win over Ukraine in their final Group B match in the Li Ling BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships in Markham, Canada on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old Aidil, who won the silver medal in the recent Sukma (National Games) in Perak, carved out a three-game 19-21, 21-15, 21-17 win in 59 minutes over Danylo Bosniuk in the men’s singles for Malaysia’s second point.

The Malaysians first point came in the mixed doubles through Chia Wei Jie-Toh Ee Wei in 21 minutes with a 21-18, 21-9 win over Ivan Medynskiy-Valeriya Rudakova.

The men’s doubles was another three-game affair before Choong Hon Jian-Yap Roy King won 21-10, 19-21, 21-10 prevailed against Glib Beketov-Mykhalyo Makhnovsky. Malaysia 3-0.

Eoon Qi Kuan ran through a 21-8, 21-4 victory over Valyeriya Masaylo in the women’s singles for the fourth point before Goh Jin Wei, who is yet to play in the singles in the mixed team event, partnered Pearly Tan Koong Le in the women’s doubles for the fifth point.

The Malaysian pair strolled to an easy 21-8, 21-9 triumph over Anastasiya Prozorova-Vakeriya Rudakova.

Malaysia, champions in 2011 in Taipei, could only manage a silver medal in the last two editions – losing each time to China in 2016 and 2017 in Bilbao, Spain, and Yogyakarta, Indonesia respectively.

“China is favorite again but we will go in high in team spirits and the wins in the group matches have been a morale booster too,” said Malaysia coach Kwan Yoke Meng.  RIZAL ABDULLAH
