Dutch remain top of world rankings as they extend unbeaten run
Great Britain/England remain at No. 2 in the world rankings
China move to 10th following fourth place finish
Following their victory at the Wanglibao Hockey Champions Trophy Changzhou Wujin, Netherlands remain the world’s number one women’s team in the FIH Hero World Rankings.
The 5-1 victory over Australia means Netherlands have joined Argentina as the most successful team in Champions Trophy history – both teams have won the competition eight times.
The win also means the Dutch have extended their unbeaten run to 43 competitive games (42 wins and one draw): the last time they lost a match was a test match against Belgium on 29 July 2017.
The newly-released rankings mean the Netherlands have been the world’s number one side since October 2011.
A second place in Changzhou has moved Australia, who are currently ranked third in the world, to within touching distance of Great Britain/England who remain in second place in the rankings courtesy of a win over Japan in the fifth/sixth place match at the Hockey Champions Trophy.
Argentina’s bronze medal win has secured their position at number four in the world rankings, while a fourth place finish at the Champions Trophy has moved China back into the top 10, overtaking Korea in the process.
Japan remain in 14th position in the world rankings after they finished sixth in Changzhou.
