Somyot Poompanmuang, the President of the FA of Thailand (FAT) has issued an ultimatum for national coach Milovan Rajevac.

“The condition is he (Rajevac) has to lead the team to a better result. That means the round of 16,” said Somyot. “By doing so, he will pass the test. If the team goes further, he is lucky. But if not, we have to go on separate ways,” said Somyot to the Nation.

The Serbian will lead Thailand to the AFC Asian Cup 2018 in the United Arab Emirates from 5 January to 1 February 2019.

Milovan has been under pressure ever since the five-time ASEAN champions crashed out of the recent AFF Suzuki Cup semi-finals on away goals rule to Malaysia.

However, for the UAE assignment, Thailand will have four key internationals – Chanathip Songkrasin of Consadole Sapporo, Theerathon Bunmathan of Kobe Vessel, Teerasil Dangda of Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Kawin Thamasatchanan of Oh Leuven – in the squad.

Thailand are in Group A where they will open their campaign against India on 6 January, then with Bahrain on 10 January and the host four days later.
