West Ham signed former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri on Monday as the Frenchman became eligible to play having completed a doping ban.

The 31-year-old had been training with the English Premier League club for the month as he sought to build up his fitness as he approached the end of an 18-month ban for taking an intravenous drip in 2016 that contravened World Anti-Doping Agency rules.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini managed Nasri at Manchester City and has given the two-time Premier League title winner a contract until the end of the season, with the club holding the option to extend it for a further year.

Nasri last played for Antalyaspor in Turkey but was released in January 2018.  SNTV
