The Slovenian rider Primoz Roglic (Team Jumbo – Visma) has won the 54th edition of the Tirreno-Adriatico NamedSport. The race podium was completed by Adam Yates (Mitchelton – Scott) and Jakob Fuglsang (Astana Pro Team). Victor Campenaerts (Lotto Soudal) won the final stage, a 10km Individual Time Trial in San Benedetto del Tronto.

Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the race winner, Primoz Roglic, said: “It’s unbelievably close. I felt stronger on the way back. Before the start I was confident that I’d win but I only could control myself. I’m glad it ended well.”

The stage winner Victor Campenaerts said: “I rode a perfect time trial. I knew I had to be strong on the way back where the headwind was really strong. This victory, my first in the World Tour, is important also for my confidence in beating the world hour record next month.”
