JOINS THE SPONSORS CAMP IN ADDITION TO RETURNING AS A RACE ROUTE

The excitement towards Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2019 is further intensified with Genting Malaysia Berhad joining up as the Main Sponsor for this year’s 24th edition of the race, as revealed in a ceremony held this morning, 4 April 2019.

Earlier on, Resorts World Genting, the nation’s premier integrated Resort, has announced the return of Genting Highlands as one of the race routes of LTdL 2019, giving the race a double boost. LTdL 2019 will commence on Friday, 6 April 2019.

The sponsorship by Genting Malaysia Berhad entails cash and in-kind totalling RM1 million.

The partnership between Genting Malaysia Berhad and LTdL has come a long way considering their collaboration since 1996 in which the company has invested more than RM13 million in sponsorships to make this annual international cycling event a success. Indeed, Resorts World Genting has also hosted the LTdL stage race for 18 times in the tour’s history.

Today’s event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Tuan Steven Sim Chee Keong who witnessed the symbolic ceremony of the partnership signing between Datuk Ahmad Mustafa, the Chief Executive Officer of Human Voyage and Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Sri Kay, Vice President of Corporate Relations & Communications, Genting Malaysia Berhad.

As a leading leisure and hospitality corporation in the world, the participation of Genting Malaysia Berhad as one of the sponsors for LTdL provides an opportunity for the company to further promote its brand globally as the race will be widely promoted and broadcasted to a network of 100 countries all over the world.

The move is also in line with one of LTdL’s main objectives which seek to highlight the sports tourism agenda that goes beyond the cycling race, as spelled out by this year’s theme of “Sports Unite, Cycling Contributes”.

“Resorts World Genting is a great attraction and known worldwide, especially among the riders who have been through the tough climb that reaches over 1,700 meters. The world’s best mountain riders from Europe, South America and Asia acknowledged this fact and spread to the world of how great Genting Highlands is,” commented Datuk Ahmad Mustafa on the uniqueness of Genting Highlands both from the racing and tourism aspects.

“As a world-class organisation with operations around the world, Genting Malaysia is proud to be associated with a renowned international race such as the Le Tour de Langkawi. After a four-year interval, we are happy to once again host the queen stage of the race at Resorts World Genting. We are proud to note that the winner of the Genting stage will most likely be the overall race winner,” Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Sri Kay said.

“We welcome everyone to Resorts World Genting to witness Stage 4 of the race on 9th April. We invite all participants and spectators of the race to take full advantage of their visit to Genting Highlands and experience the first-class attractions at our Resort,” she added.

The LTdL’s race in Resorts World Langkawi will be taking place during its Stage 4 on 9 April 2019, which will begin in Shah Alam, Selangor. Members of the public are invited to join the side events especially at the finishing point in Genting Highlands.

Meanwhile, the organisers of LTdL would like to remind all spectators along the race routes to comply with the guidelines and rules of the race to ensure the smooth running of the event in a lively and safe environment.
