Selangor and Kedah swapped places again after contracting results in Saturday’s Super matches with the Red Giants held to a 1-1 draw by PKNP (Perak SEDC) in Manjung while the Red Eagles snatched a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Melaka United in Alor Setar.

The results saw Kedah regain their third place on goal difference. Kedah has a 23-13 tally while Selangor’s tally reads 22-22 after 14 matches with both teams tied on 22 points each.

For Kedah, it was a bit of footballing luck in their 2-1 win over Melaka – 6-0 winners over Felda United in a mid-week home match – when Melaka’s Korean import Jang Suk-won turned the ball into his own net while attempting to cut off a Farhan Roslan cross in the 71st minute.

Earlier, Melaka had taken a 1-0 lead on 31 minutes through their Serbian striker Luka Milunovic who headed home a freekick by Syafiq Rahim.  Kedah equalized through international Baddrol Bakhtiar who headed home a cross by Jonatan Bauman on the hour mark.

Milunovic who was on loan to Sabah before returning to Melaka last week during the second transfer window netted a hat-trick in the big win over Felda United.

Selangor’s new signing Ifedayo Olesugun, who made his debut for the Red Giants with a grand hat-trick in the 3-1 win over Kedah at Shah Alam in a mid-week match, got his team to a dream start when he tapped home cross by Sandro da Silva from the left in the 29th minute.

PKNP, however, stole a point when G. Mugenthiran fired home an unstoppable shot into the right corner after a through pass by Yashir Pinto two minutes into the second half.

At the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka, Felda United was held to a 1-1 draw by Terengganu.
