Melaka United whipped Felda by half a dozen goals

The night belonged to new signing Ifedayo Olusegun as he fired a hat-trick to take Selangor to a 3-1 win over Kedah at the Shah Alam Stadium on Wednesday and third place in the Super League – swapping place with the Red Eagles who dropped a rung.

The Nigerian, who is not new to the Super League, having played for Felda United (2017) and Melaka United (2018) opened the floodgates for the Red Giants on 34 minutes when latched on to a freekick by Sandro da Silva.

His second was a gift from Kedah goalkeeper Ifwat Akmal Chek who came off his line to intercept a long ball but fumbled with his catch and the lurking Olusegun gleefully grabbed the golden opportunity to tuck the ball home. Selangor 2-0 in the 44th minute.

Fernando Ortega pulled one back for Kedah on 48 minutes but Olusegun made sure the night belonged to him when he completed his hat-trick in the 57th minute to send Selangor into third place with 21 points. Kedah slipped to fourth on 19 points – ahead on Melaka United on goal difference.

Serbian striker Luka Milunivic, who was on loan to Sabah, made a memorable return to Melaka United with a grand hat-trick to help his team roar to a thumping 6-0 whitewash of Felda United at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka.

It is the biggest win in the league so far this season as the home team whipped the daylights out of the FA Cup semi-finalists with Milunovic getting his name into the scoresheet with strikes in the 36th, 53rd and 89th minutes.

Earlier, Melaka opened the scoring as early the fourth minute through their Philippine midfielder Patrick Reichelt. The other scorers were Safiq Rahim, (25th) and Nazrin Nawi (36th).
