Aston Martin Red Bull Racing duo burn some rubber at Jumbo Racedagen

Max Verstappen and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing have thrilled the Dutch fans for a fourth year in a row at the annual Jumbo Racedagen event at the Zandvoort Circuit in Holland. Here is all you need to know:

– Verstappen and teammate Pierre Gasly got behind the wheel of a couple of RB7’s to give the fans a taste of what is to come in 2020.

– Last week the Zandvoort Circuit was officially announced as being part of the Formula One calendar next year, the first time since 1985.

– Fans packed the stands from 7AM, and were not disappointed with the duo performing a tyre-shredding display of donuts and laps.

– In 2017 Verstappen set the unofficial lap record driving a RB8 of 1:19.511 at the event, while last year he raced Daniel Ricciardo in an Aston Martin while pulling a caravan.

– Verstappen said: “It’s the fourth edition of the Jumbo Racedagen and it has been crazy here today. We’ve been growing together over the years and it’s amazing to see so many Dutch fans coming to this event. It’s very special that you are so close to your fans here. At a race weekend we’re very restricted in what we can do, so this is definitely a great event for the fans. The track itself is very challenging and there are not many run-off areas. It’s amazing that the track will come back on the F1 calendar next year and you will see a lot of orange in the dunes.”

– Gasly added: “I didn’t really know what to expect before I came here this weekend and I’m really impressed with the number of people here to support us and it’s really cool to drive an F1 car on this track. I came to Zandvoort in 2012 with Formula Renault 2.0, but it is like a completely different track when you take an F1 car here. It’s super narrow with really high-speed corners and you need big balls to go fast around this track. It’s going to be challenging to race here but really exciting.”

– The duo will return to the seaside circuit on Sunday for another day of high-speed action before turning their attention to the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix.
