The Asean Football Federation (AFF) welcomed HRH Prince Sufri Bolkiah, Mr Lim Kia Tong and Ms Ratu Tisha Destria as the new AFF Vice-Presidents here today.

The three officials assumed their new posts after being elected by acclamation at the AFF Extraordinary Congress today. This completes the line-up of the AFF Vice-Presidents. Dato’ Sri Francisco Kalbuadi Lay was voted AFF Vice-President at the AGM in Siem Reap in March.

HRH Prince Sufri is the President of National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam while Mr Lim is the President of the FA of Singapore. Ms Ratu Tisha is the General Secretary of the FA of Indonesia and is the first female Vice-President of the AFF. The VP posts became vacant following the resignations of Datuk Sri Zaw Zaw and Dato’ Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin.

“I would like to congratulate and welcome HRH Prince Sufri, Mr Lim and Ms Ratu Tisha as AFF Vice-Presidents. They come with a wealth of experience and will contribute extensively to the continued development and growth of AFF,” Major General Khiev Sameth, the AFF President, said today.

“With VP line-up confirmed and with Winston Lee coming on board as the General Secretary, we now have a dynamic team ready to give our best for AFF. I look forward to working with them and lead AFF to greater heights,” Major General Sameth added.

In the spirit of Asean solidarity, Member Associations not represented in FIFA and AFC were nominated to for the AFF VP posts.

For the record, Mr Mariano Araneta (Philippines) is a FIFA member while Dato’ Sri Zaw Zaw (Myanmar) is the AFC Vice-President. Dato’ Hamidin (Malaysia), Mr Chris Nikou (Australia), Dr Tran Quoc Tuan (Vietnam) and Ms Kanya Keomany (Laos) are members of the AFC Executive Committee. Pol Gen Somyot Poompanmoung is the AFC Executive Committee co-opted member.

Earlier at the Congress, the AFF members observed a minute of silence in honour the late HRH Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, AFF’s former President from 2011 to 2019.

Meanwhile, the AFF Council announced that the AFF Awards Night will be organised in Vietnam on Nov 8 in Hanoi.

The AFF Council also decided to invite teams from outside the Asean region for the AFF Beach Soccer to be staged in Pattaya, Thailand from Sept 22-28.
