The Malaysian national Under-15 team received a boost ahead of the AFF U15 Boys’ Championship in Thailand next week when they won the International Youth U15 Football Championship in China yesterday..

The Malaysians had opened their campaign in Haikou with a 2-0 win over Iran before holding hosts China to a 1-1 draw in their second game.

They then completed their fixtures at the Haikou Wuyuanhe Stadium to wrap up the title with a 2-1 victory over DPR Korea.

In the final group match, the Malaysians scored twice through Aliff Izwan Yuslan in the 20th minute and Nabil Qayyum Zainuddin in 57th minute as DPR Koreans then replied with a late penalty from Yom Chol Gyong right at the end.

The team under head coach P. Maniam will take part in the AFF U15 Boy’s Championship slated for 27 July to 9 August 2019.

Malaysia are in Group B against hosts Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Brunei DS and Australia while Group A are Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Timor Leste, Singapore and the Philippines.
