Mid-season Nigerian signing Idefayo Olusegun scored his ninth goal in five matches as Selangor powered to a 2-1 win over Felda United in Sunday’s only Super League match which was played at the Tun Razak Stadium in Jengka.

The full points saw the Red Giants move up to third place in the 12-team league with 31 points from 19 matches and enhancing their hopes of a top three-finish – ahead of Kedah who slipped a rung to fourth place on 30 points.

Johor Darul Takzim, who have already clinched their sixth successive league title is on top with 49 points with Pahang a distant second on 33 with a game in hand.

Selangor head coach B. Satianathan was left pleased with the win over Felda on artificial turf – more so when the Fighters denied Selangor a win in the first round in their opening match at the Shah Alam Stadium in February with a 1-1 draw.

Brazilian Sandro da Silva Mendonca fired Selangor into the lead on 44 minutes and Olusegun added the second in the 51st minute.

The Fighters known for their tremendous fighting spirit pulled one back through Brazilian  Jocinei Schad in the 64th minute but that was as far as they could go as Selangor held out for an important win.
