It was a ding-dong battle at the Darulaman Stadium in Alor Setar on Tuesday before Kedah roared back to a 3-2 win over PKNS FC in a Group A Malaysia Cup match to enhance their hopes of a place in the knockout stage.

The man who made the difference for Kedah was their prolific scorer from Argentina Jonatan Bauman fired a brace – knocking in the equalizers each time PKNS took the lead and looked like pulling off an upset win.

Bauman scored in the 51st and 84th minutes before Aliff Yusof broke the hearts of PKNS head coach Datuk K. Rajagobal and his Red Ants with an injury-time winner for the three points which saw the FA Cup champions keep their second place in the group with seven points from four matches.

Terengganu with three wins out of three matches leads the group with nine points. PKNS is third on four points with Negri Sembilan at the bottom without a point to show after three defeats.

PKNS shot in front after 30 minutes when their Colombian hitman Romel Morales plundered an unstoppable shot from out the box that left the Kedah defenders in sixes and sevens.

After Bauman netted the equalizer for Kedah the visitors were back in front again on 70 minutes via a header by Nicholas Swirad. That was as far as PKNS went before Kedah fired two quick goals for the 3-2 win.
