Malaysia will feature in the men’s and mixed doubles semi-finals in the USD150,000 Macau Open on Saturday after Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin (men’s doubles) and Hoo Pang Ron-Cheah See Yee won their quarter-final matches.

Sixth seeds Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin served a pleasant surprise when they stunned fourth seeds Lu Ching Yao-Yang Po Han of Chinese Taipei in straight games 21-12, 21-16 in 38 minutes.

The Malaysian hope, however, will have to raise their game when they face top seeds Li Junhui-Liu Yuchen of China in the last four. The Chinese also cleared their last eight hurdle in straight games 21-15, 21-13 against Lee Jhe-huei-Yang Po Hsuan of Chinese Taipei.

There was further cheer in the Malaysian camp when number eight seeds Hoo Pang Ron-Cheah Yee See came back from a one game deficit to beat Lin Yong Sheng-Lin Wan Ching of Chinese Taipei 14-21, 21-18, 21-13 in 54 minutes.

For a place in the final Pang Ron-Yee See face another Chinese Taipei hurdle – number six seeds Wang Chi-Lin-Cheng Chi-Ya who edged Indonesian third seeds Hafiz Faizal-Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja 22-20, 28-26 in a closely fought 46-minute encounter
