The Ambassador ADT will return on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) for the second edition from May 19 to 22.

The showpiece, sponsored by the Yeangder Group, will offer a prize purse of US$120,000 and will be staged at the Hsin Feng Golf and Country Club located in Hsin Chu, about 40 miles away from Taipei city.

Local star Chan Shih-chang will return to defend his title which he won last year for his fifth ADT victory after the final round was cancelled due to inclement weather.

The staging of the Ambassador ADT will provide an opportunity for the local golfers to stake a claim at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in August as the winner will receive six Official World Golf Ranking points.

Lin Wen-tang, who finished second at the Ambassador ADT last year, and Pan Cheng-tsung are currently in the running to represent their country in the Olympics. The cut-off date for the event is on July 11, 2016.

ADT hopefuls from all over the region will also be bidding to boost their Order of Merit rankings, where 2017 Asian Tour cards will be on offer for the top five players on the final 2016 Order of Merit.

Emmet Hsu, Chairman of the Yeangder Group as well as the Ambassador Hotels and Hsin Feng Golf and Country Club, is delighted with the return of the Ambassador ADT on the ADT Schedule.

“The ADT is a great platform for the young and up-coming golfers to sharpen their game. In recent years, we’ve seen the emergence of many talented Chinese Taipei players including Chan Shih-chang, who won the event last year,” said Hsu.

“The Yeangder Group has always been supportive of our players. We have seen how Chan has progressed on the ADT in recent years and even made his way onto the Asian Tour. We look forward to another successful tournament in May,” added Hsu.

Asian Tour’s Associate Director Irfan Hamid said: “The Yeangder Group is a great sponsor of golf in Asia and the ADT salute their efforts to grow the game in Chinese Taipei and across the region.”

“On behalf of the ADT and our talented players, we are privileged to welcome the return of the Ambassador ADT on our Schedule for the second year. Chan has been one of the success stories on the ADT and we hope more emerging players will follow in his footsteps,” said Irfan.

A total of 150 players will compete in the Ambassador ADT, with the field being split between the ADT and the Taiwan PGA.

Apart from the Ambassador ADT, the Yeangder Group also sponsored the Charming Yeangder ADT which took place in March and backs the Yeangder Tournament Players’ Championship (TPC) which is returning for its seventh edition on the Asian Tour in July.
